K\u0119trzyn County as a place to do business – assets and challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The demographic, social, economic and spatial development of K\u0119trzyn County in the 2027 outlook will be determined by a variety of factors, including geographic, economic, environmental, social, technological and political.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The geographic aspects are due to the favorable location of the district both in terms of physical geography, settlement, administration and communications. The area is characterized by unique natural and cultural values, which is conducive to its development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Economic factors refer to the attractiveness of the county as a place to live and do business, both in rural and urban areas. This is influenced by the globalization of the economy, which shapes the competitiveness of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  Social determinants take into account the changing needs of residents, increasing levels of wealth and education. This translates into efforts to improve living conditions, including the choice of K\u0119trzyn County as a place to live, especially in terms of better accessibility to jobs and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technological development promotes easier and faster communication, thanks to modern means of communication, such as telephones, computers and the Internet. Innovative technologies also affect the efficiency of transportation, municipal services, housing or public safety, which increases the comfort of residents’ lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecological factors involve the effects of spatial expansion, leading to increased pressure on the environment and reduced access to key resources such as forests and water. The answer to these challenges is to strive for a sustainable model of spatial development, taking into account energy and economic efficiency. Local development policy should be based on a flexible approach to changing conditions and cooperation with the environment. Decisions at the regional, national and European levels have a direct impact on the decentralization of governance and public finances, which can shape the future of the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the context of the challenges of socio-economic development, it is particularly important to maintain the dynamics of growth in periods of unfavorable economic conditions and with decreasing financial support from the European Union in 2021-2027. The key direction of activities within the Development Strategy of K\u0119trzyn County should be the strengthening of spatial-functional links between the county and its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategic analysis indicates important trends and conditions for the development of the region, which allow to identify the most important challenges facing K\u0119trzyn County in the perspective to 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question: Which industries are growing best in K\u0119trzyn County?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answe<\/strong>r: In K\u0119trzyn District, micro and small businesses are the dominant group of economic entities. As many as 96% of companies operating in the area employ a maximum of 9 employees. In 2014-2019, this category of enterprises recorded the largest increase in the number of new businesses – 214 have arrived. A key role in the local economy is played by the private sector, which is growing rapidly. It is worth noting that as many as 80% of the companies in this group are run by individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the point of view of potential investors, K\u0119trzyn County is not seen as a particularly attractive location for business. The main obstacles are insufficiently developed investment infrastructure and transportation difficulties. The lack of developed land for investment and the unsatisfactory condition of roads, combined with the considerable distance from major urban centers, make entrepreneurs cautious about locating capital in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between 2014 and 2019, there was a decline in the number of companies with foreign participation – their number decreased from 24 in 2014 to 17 in 2019. In contrast, a positive development is the increase in the number of newly registered local companies. According to available data, the number of companies deleted from the REGON register also decreased significantly in 2019, which may indicate greater stability of economic activity in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question: What are K\u0119trzyn County’s greatest assets for entrepreneurs?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer<\/strong>: K\u0119trzyn County has significant potential in the agricultural sector. There are opportunities to develop livestock farming without having to increase the area used for this purpose. Crops are mainly dominated by cereals, mainly wheat, as well as rapeseed and sugar beets. Buying of agricultural products is mainly focused on grains, which go to mills, feed mills and other processing plants. One of the key challenges, however, is the limited ability to buy legumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K\u0119trzyn County is characterized by an agricultural economic profile. Its geodetic area is 121,299 hectares, of which agricultural land occupies 92,544 hectares, accounting for 76.29% of the total area. The land use structure is dominated by arable land (69.82%), and is supplemented by pastures (13.78%) and meadows (9.35%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on 2010 Census of Agriculture data, the average farm size in the district is about 29 hectares. Farms of up to 10 hectares account for nearly 60% of all agricultural units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rich natural resources of the countryside create favorable conditions for the development of organic farming, which is a response to the growing demand for healthy and organic food. This type of activity not only supports environmental protection, but also contributes to the growth of employment in rural areas, creating new jobs and additional sources of income for farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question: Is the county’s location and infrastructure conducive to investment?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answe<\/strong>r: In recent years, the road infrastructure in K\u0119trzyn County has improved significantly, and more projects are currently being planned and implemented, including a bypass for the city of K\u0119trzyn and the renovation of the K\u0119trzyn-Gizycko provincial road. Unfortunately, there are no expressways or national roads running through K\u0119trzyn County, which makes us distant from the main transportation routes in Warmia and Mazury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question: What measures are being taken to attract new investors?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answe<\/strong>r:  Municipalities in K\u0119trzyn County encourage investors through thoughtful fiscal policy, investment areas and favorable administrative and legal environments for potential investors. K\u0119trzyn County, by implementing a number of investment projects, stimulates the local market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
