A Day in the Life of a Student in Litochoro

This is how we presented our typical day to the students of the Greek school. I usually wake up around 6:30 in the morning, although I’m not gonna lie — it’s pretty hard to get out of bed sometimes. I quickly get ready, eat something for breakfast, usually a sandwich or cereal, and head to school. It takes me a while to get there, so I try to leave before 7:00. Classes start at 8:00, but it’s good to be early to chat with friends a bit before. During lessons, we have different subjects — the usual ones like Polish, math, English, and sometimes harder ones like physics or chemistry. It can be tough, especially when we have tests one after another, but it’s manageable. Between lessons we get short breaks, and the longest one is around noon — we call it the “big break.” That’s when most people eat something. I usually bring sandwiches from home, but some go to the school shop or even run to a nearby store. It’s also a good time to talk or just relax a bit. After school, it depends. Sometimes I do homework right away if I have something for the next day, but often I just take a break first. I like playing games on my computer or watching something on YouTube or Netflix. Some people go to the gym, but I prefer meeting up with friends at the field or just going for a walk. Sometimes I have tutoring or extra classes, especially now that the final exams (matura) are getting closer. And some of my friends already have part-time jobs — like working in restaurants or handing out flyers. It really depends on the day, but that’s more or less what my life looks like as a high school student in Poland. And this is how the students from the Greek school presented their typical day to us.
